Eclipse would have been a decent book as a standalone, but in the context of being the third book in a good series it should have offered a lot more. You better hold on tight, spider monkey-we’re about to take you down the Twilight memory lane. After my damning review of Eclipse, I’m sure you must have guessed that I didn’t hold out much hope for the finale of the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn. However, like so many of Twilight’s fans, it seems like Robert Pattinson will never fully be free from his association with the franchise, especially in 2020.īut since 2020 was, well, whatever this year was, we saw a huge surge of people going back to the original films as a source of comfort in a year that did anything but. Additionally, he was cast as Bruce Wayne in The Batman, all of which have skyrocketed Pattinson up a whopping 31 spots on this year’s Actors list. After receiving much acclaim for his performance in 2019’s The Lighthouse, Pattinson appeared in 2020’s Tenet and The Devil All the Time. The Twilight Saga book series first appeared on Year in Review at #20 in 2019, while the film series premiered that same year at #15. The excitement surrounding the August 4th book release was so high that it appeared on August 10th’s Week in Review. Memes about the new canon material immediately spawned across Booklr, with old-school fans excited ( or resigned) about reading the events in Twilight, told from Edward Cullen’s perspective. This year, the fandom has grown even more-in part due to the announcement in May of a new book: Midnight Sun. Tweens and teens who fell in love with the books and films have revisited them as adults, wallowing in nostalgia for the fandom of their youths and discussing all of the source material’s good (and bad) parts. The film series that began in 2008 launched the careers of Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. These books ushered in a new era of sparkly vampires and sexy werewolves, capturing the imagination of fans and haters alike. Just over fifteen years ago, on October 5th, 2005, the world was given the gift of Stephenie Meyers’ first book in the Twilight Saga series.
